In the kitchen
“If there was a cult of generosity: the kitchen would be its temple. My kitchen is definitely my favourite place in a house”. The Joséphine Altavilla culinary concept itself is oriented at easy recipes that produce a considerable effect. As she says: “I cook so that my friends and guests enjoy my recipes”. Moreover her recipes are not time consuming but practical and easy because nobody likes spending hours in the kitchen preparing. To juggle up a delicious meal in 15 minutes is not complicated, you just need to have an idea of what you would like to prepare. “One thing is certain, adds Joséphine Altavilla, I entertain as I am: generous and cheerful, stimulated by years in “Haute Gastronomie”. Having trained with the best, her intention is to suggest easy home recipes, accessible to all through clever solutions and tips for everyday, adapting professional ideas to day to day life in order not to waste time preparing but enjoying all moments of conviviality with one’s guests.
To come to the idea of contemporary cuisine, Joséphine Altavilla has combined two well distinct conceptions. On the one hand she refers to the culinary tradition inherited from her family and more particularly from her mother (an excellent cook who taught her the majority of good things she still applies today), situated at a crossing point between French and Italian culture, always profoundly Mediterranean, refreshing and colourful. On the other hand her professional training at the side of world widely renowned chef Alain Ducasse, her mentor, made her discover the importance of dynamism, curiosity, research, sophistication and risk: the kitchen is a real research laboratory.
From this combination derives a formula that shakes up the way we see home gastronomy and turns everyday, every occasion, birthday party, picnic, barbecue or a simple dinner among friends into a unique and magical moment!
Welcome to my home, welcome to yours
Through her numerous experiences, Joséphine Altavilla has made hers a lifestyle where embellishing everyday life is key. Like she puts it: “each moment spent with loved ones is precious, especially when meeting and sharing a great meal”. Nowadays our busy lives might let us think that entertaining at home for family and friends is quite a challenge. Joséphine Altavilla , convinced that our home is indeed the ideal place for entertaining, puts at our disposal a series of simple details, tips, an exquisite dinnerware as well as delicious recipes. It is not about applying all this to the dot but each one should rework these ideas to make them their own.
Joséphine Altavilla ´s philosophy results from her personal and professional background, it reflects her Mediterranean culture modelled by the years of travelling. Monaco has been the starting point, and as strange as it may seem, it is where she realised that real luxury doesn’t reside in the ostentatious or priceless objects but in little things, harmony, simplicity and daily charm. France has taught her the importance of things well done, elegance without pretension and the real value of sophistication.
In Barcelona, Joséphine Altavilla discovered the beauty of imperfection and unexpected mixes through the eclectic traditions of a city which has become her home.
Nevertheless Italy and more particularly the region of Umbria remains the main source of inspiration: “that place makes my heart beat” as she puts it herself. From Italy Joséphine Altavilla has gained warm human relationships, a sense of interest and humility.
From all her travels and experiences derive real and essential values and a leitmotiv for all her creations, would it be dinnerware, decorative objects or home recipes: simplicity, authenticity, lightness and a sense of humour.
Thus there is no need to acquire professional techniques at all cost to take pleasure in entertaining, in finding a nice present for someone. Joséphine Altavilla´s utmost desire is to open the door to something authentic and real to share in sheer simplicity.
